Funding & Grants

The UK Government has a number of environmental targets it aims to meet in the near future with implications for business and households including and a range of grants, funds and tax incentives to encourage micro-energy generation and energy efficiency. The main Government target is the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 26-32% by the year 2020, and by at least 60% by 2050, compared to levels in 1990.

Feed-in Tariffs, a scheme to encourage households and businesses to generate their own electricity, went live in April 2010, and has done more than anything else to accelerate the installation of renewable energy capacity in Europe. Read more about Feed-in Tariffs.

The Renewable Heat Incentive is a similar scheme to feed-in tariffs that provides a fixed payment for the renewable heat a household or business generates on-site. Read more about Renewable Heat Incentive
